This is my love letter to all the queer musicians out there, making art and kicking ass. If there's an artist you think I should know about, please let me know, I love new music! (I also reblog/post on general queer and trans stuff, radical news, and instances when the world is fucked, and when it isn't!)
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
A go-to choice for jazz heavies and arena-level singer-songwriters alike, drummer Allison Miller made time to cultivate her own working band in the past few years. Fresh off the band’s second studio album, and a tour to support it, she leads her singular quartet in a New York homecoming.
Live muzaks from Allison Miller and her jazz quartet! Featuring Todd Sickafoose on bass (he has also been a member of Ani DiFranco’s band and has recorded multiple albums with her. Check Reprieve for his best work with her).
Dr. Dolphin. LIVE! Includes an incredible cover of Mariah Carey’s “Heartbreaker,” including Jay-Z’s rap!
Le Tigre playing “Hot Topic” live on the TV machine.
Two live tracks from Husker Dü recorded in 1985 for a live VHS (love it) called It’s Clean, It Just Looks Dirty.
NPR is on the ball this week! CTTS is not a queer band by any stretch of the imagination, but I love them immensely, and they played their first show in over three years earlier this week (with pg. 99!) and they’re releasing their first album in seven years in a couple of months. CTTS will always hold a really special place in my heart, even if I don’t listen to them as much as I used to, and I just to spread the joy.
