This is my love letter to all the queer musicians out there, making art and kicking ass. If there's an artist you think I should know about, please let me know, I love new music! (I also reblog/post on general queer and trans stuff, radical news, and instances when the world is fucked, and when it isn't!)

OMG THIS! If you can donate to this, please do. It’s so important. If you care about anti-racism, if you consider yourself anti-colonialist, if at any point today you lamented the reprehensible origins of this holiday, please consider donating.

They are once again raising money to save Pe’Sla, and so far have only raised forty some odd thousand dollars. Please donate if you can for all the reasons listed above.

BREAKING NEWS on Pe' Sla Auction!

The auction has been CANCELLED for unknown reasons:

For Immediate Release: Update: Pe’ Sla Auction Cancelled on Direction of Owners’ Representative

The auction scheduled on August 25, 2012 for the acreage called Reynold’s Prairie, also known as Pe’ Sla to the Oceti Sakowin (Great Sioux Nation), has been cancelled on direction of the owners representative, according to Brock Auction, Co., Inc: http://www.brockauction.com/upcoming.htm

The owners are not commenting as to why the auction has been cancelled. At this time, Lastrealindians, Inc. is consulting with Oceti Sakowin Tribes and attempting to find out more information. Updates forthcoming.

Pilamaye, Lastrealindians

Fingers crossed, perhaps the press has persuaded the owners to change their mind about refusing to sell the land to the Lakota people directly. A much worse scenario is that they’ve opted to postpone the auction to an undisclosed later date, which could severely impact the fundraising efforts. Speaking of the fundraising efforts, they have passed the incredible $250,000 mark, but are still far below the $1 million goal.

For those concerned, the organizers have already expressed that in the event they are unable to use the funds to purchase all or portions of Pe’ Sla (e.g. they are outbid) that they will save the funds towards the purchase and protection of other land that may become available in the Pe’ Sla/Black Hills area in the future.

From the site:

Pe Sla has been taken off the auction block. However, the property is publicly listed. The Tribes of the Great Sioux Nation are moving forward on their own behalf with Lastrealindians, Inc. in continuing to raise money to ensure Pe’ Sla will be protected as a sacred site, forever.
Updates will continue as more information becomes available.
