This is my love letter to all the queer musicians out there, making art and kicking ass. If there's an artist you think I should know about, please let me know, I love new music! (I also reblog/post on general queer and trans stuff, radical news, and instances when the world is fucked, and when it isn't!)
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
I am in absolute awe.
I’m not even going into detail, because I can’t, but I have to say that no news story has ever meant more to me than this one. This kind of bravery—and honesty—is so unheard of, and I am so full of so many different positive emotions that I can’t even put them into words.
Laura Jane Grace, you are the most phenomenal person I have ever encountered. THANK YOU for paving this path for so many others like you. Congratulations, and good luck. Your fans adore YOU.

I would like to echo fullcollapse’s statement (nice username, btw!). It takes a tremendous amount of bravery to come out, but even more when you’re in the public eye and subject to a thousand times more scrutiny than the average person. That kind of bravery and honesty is beautiful and inspiring, like fullcollapse said. I’ve always been amazed by the passion, intensity, directness, and conviction in her songwriting. I’m glad that she is in a place where she feels she can be open and vocal about this.
I’m a fan of Against Me!’s music and of her wife Heather’s artwork, have been for years. All my love and support goes out to them and their friends & family.
Thank you. <3
Fantastic!
While I don’t listen to Against Me!, this is great c:
My first thought when I saw this was “Holy shit, this is huge.” As the article explains, this is pretty much the first time a major rock artist has come out as transgender, and her willingness to be so open about it is truly incredible. I have never been a great fan of Against Me, but I have always had respect for them. And I still do, perhaps even more so now. I’m excited to see where their music goes from here, and I wish Laura the absolute best of luck. As we all know, it can be incredibly difficult to be a public figure and be out as anything, but especially as trans. I really hope that the awesome, progressive community that tends to be fans of AM! continues to support her and the band.
